Psst… We’re sharing creative DIY cottage crafts for kids!

QUESTION
This week, i’m the one asking the question. I’m hosting my sister, brother-in-law, two nieces and nephew at the cottage this weekend and (YIKES) it’s turned chilly. My question is, what indoor crafts can I organize for the kids to do that will be fun, decorative and memorable?

ANSWER
Luckily, my go-to sites Pinterest, Oh Happy Day!, andSpoonful had the answer I seeked.
If you have little ones to keep occupied indoors this weekend and want to nurture their creativity,

HERE ARE 5 FUN DIY CRAFTS YOUR KIDS WILL LOVE:

1. PAINTED HAND CAMP FIRE
Bring the campfire indoors with this adorable craft. It’s the perfect for the little ones in your family. Arm yourself with cups of paint and a plastic table cloth and let the little paws do what they do best… get messy!

2. PERSONALIZED ROASTING STICKS
Not one to let a little rain spoil campfire memories, we’ll be making these adorable roasting sticks to use over the indoor fireplace flame. The bonus is that my nieces and nephew will have a keepsake from their weekend with Auntie Erika.

CREATE ROASTING STICKS IN 3 EASY STEPS:
1. Paint dowel (1″ diameter, 10″ long) and let dry.
2. Drill a small hole in the end of each dowel.
3. Glue a straightened, non-coated, clothing hanger or sturdy wire into each end.

3. ROCK ON
This is a two-part activity. The first job is to send the kids outdoors to collect flat rocks along the shoreline. After they’ve foraged in the fresh air, they will (hopefully) have the patience and focus to paint their hand-picked stones with blocks of colour, faces or doodles.

4. INDOOR FISHING
While the weather may not be ideal for fishing or trolling, here’s a fish friendly activity that will add decorative touch to your dinner table. Create fish-themed napkin holders, wine tags, name cards and straw toppers… all from one printable template and a little imagination.

5. NATURE MOBILE
Another indoors-out craft for your active tots and teens. Collect branches, rocks, leaves and tiny pinecones and string them together with fishing line to create a mobile they can hang in their bedrooms.
