The Real Estate
First granted to the Silverthorn family in 1810, Markland Wood was home to a sawmill, a grist mill and farmland. In 1958, it was sold for development to Mark Cavotti, hence the name Mark’s Land, or Markland. Single family homes on generous lots were built from the 1960s onward, followed in the 1970s by apartments and condominiums.
Most properties are detached single-family homes built between 1960 and 1980. However, first time buyers and downsizers are finding an increasing number of condos to choose from.
