One of which was Sheriff William Jarvis and his family who laid roots and built his estate. His granddaughter would ride horseback around the estate as she enjoyed seeing the wild roses that grew in abundance. Mr Jarvis named his estate Rosedale after his granddaughter and that is how Rosedale got its name.
