About The Neighbourhood

High Park real estate is known for so much more than the gorgeous green space that acts as its epicentre. It actually some very important history!

The land that the park is built around was gifted to the city by an affluent Torontonian named John Howard in 1873, who declared it to be a "public park for the free use benefit and enjoyment of the citizens of the City of Toronto forever.” Since then, it has undergone a series of changes, including geographical expansion, the addition of the High Park Zoo, playgrounds, a dog park, gardens and much more. Of course, there are the famous cherry blossoms. These were gifted to the city in 1959 by Japanese Ambassador Toru-Hagiwara, as a token of appreciation of Toronto welcoming Japanese-Canadian post World War II.

Aside from the park itself, High Park real estate boasts stunning century homes and charming low-rise apartments, along with a buzzing main strip populated with shops, restaurants, cafes and more.
