The Vibe

Close to downtown and full of green space – Cabbagetown really lives up to its name!

The Story

Cabbagetown is defined by a number of Victorian style homes built in the late 1800s – at the time housing the area’s predominantly Irish population. The name itself comes from the cabbage plants which could be found on residents’ front lawns.

During the 1970s, the gentrification of this area was nothing short of fascinating. The older Victorian homes were completely renovated, and Cabbagetown real estate really began to take hold as attractive property for many of Toronto’s eager homebuyers.

It gets better:

The Convenience

Living in Cabbagetown real estate has the best of both worlds. It’s incredibly close to the Downtown Core, while still being far away enough to feel like its own community. The overall neighbourhood has an insulated feel to it and features plenty of shops so that you don’t have to wander far to find the essentials. While it might be a bit of a journey to the closest subway, on College Street you can find the 506 streetcar – which can easily connect you with the rest of the city.

The Residents

Cabbagetown real estate is made up of all different kinds of people. While you’re here, you’ll be able to find doctors, lawyers, CEOs, as well as musicians, artists, and writers of all stripes. These people are also bound to come from many different backgrounds and cultures, which gives living in Cabbagetown its distinct charm.

The Best Part

The Cabbagetown Festival is an annual festival that we absolutely adore. This festival occurs every September, and it provides various arts and crafts, products for sale, and activities for both the old and the young. The highlight has to be the Saturday morning parade, which includes bands, floats, and local celebrities.
