So you’ve organized and de-cluttered your home and all this productivity has you amped up for a deep, deep clean. A clean that only the hope of spring could inspire – a clean to scrub away the winter blues!
I’ve always had the bad habit of thinking the more cleaning products I had in my arsenal of supplies the cleaner my home would be – this couldn’t be further from the truth. A key component of spring cleaning is to STOP bringing things into your virtually clutter free and freshly organized home!
Many store bought cleaners can have harmful and even dangerous ingredients in them, especially if you have allergies, small children or pets! A lot of the ‘clean’ and ‘green’ cleaners that you find in stores cost an arm and a leg. Why pay a premium for the packaging when you probably already have these items in your home?! Here’s a few cleaning ‘recipes’ I hope you find useful.
All purpose cleaner:
1Tbsp baking soda
1Tbsp dishwashing soap
1Tbsp lemon juice
½ Cup white vinegar
2 Cups warm water
Glass cleaner
1 ½ Cups white vinegar
1 ½ Cups warm water
Tip: Use newspaper to get a streak free clean. (Finally a use for flyers!)
Floor cleaner
¼ Cup vinager
2 Cups warm water
1 Tbsp baking soda
Just pour all of these mixtures into labeled spray bottles and use them until they are finished! For those that like the ‘clean’ smell of store bought cleaner, essential oils can be added to any of these to create a stronger ‘clean’ smell. So, what do you clean with?
